Carers Self Assessments

Carers Self Assessments

The Carer Self Assessment allows carers to assess their own needs, without the need to wait for a Carer Assessment.  Completing the Self Assessment enables you to explain your needs to Social Work as a carer, highlight any difficulties you have in your caring role and pinpoint any services that you may need.  The Self Assessment is also a useful tool for new carers as it may be the first time they realise the extent of their caring responsibilities.

The Assessment could identify a number of social work, health and housing services that could help you, such as the provision of aids and adaptations in the home, day centre care, and benefits advice.

Completing the Self Assessment

You can complete the Self Assessment online...

To fill in a Self Assessment online, via the Renfrewshire Council Website, click here

...or you can arrange for someone at the Carers Centre to help you fill it in.  Just give us a call on 0141 887 3643.

If you need help as a carer, but do not want to complete the Carer Self Assessment form, please contact you local Area Team and request a Carers Assessment.  A member of Area Team staff will meet you to discuss your needs.  Click here to find out contact details of your Area Team.

When you have filled your Carer Self Assesment in and sent it back to Social Work, they will process it within 28 days and get back to you with any services they are offering you, based on your needs.  To date around one in ten Carer Self Assessments lead on to a full Carer Assessment being carried out.
