Emotional Support
The Carers Centre does not have a counsellor but we do provide a listening ear!
As many of you are aware sometimes the only help a carer needs is for someone to give them the opportunity to talk to someone who not only understands but will listen to what they have to say. Over the last few years the staff in the Centre, while not all qualified in counselling, have developed great listening skills and are on hand at all times to do just that.
For many people one of the worst effects of caring is the isolation they face. Carers can slowly find themselves cut off from their former lives and isloated from their family and friends. To help combat this, Carers UK has developed an online forum where carers can get advice and support from others in a simular situation. Visit http://www.carersuk.org/Forums/
The following organisations may be helpful for carers who need some emotional support. We have also included organisations that carers looking after someone with a mental health condition may be interested in.
